Liquid won another convincing series in the DreamHack Masters Spring lower bracket, this time against Cloud9, to move on to the consolidation final against 100 Thieves.

After a strong series against Gen.G yesterday, Liquid continue to plow through the DreamHack Masters Spring lower bracket, this time with a 2-0 victory against Cloud9. Liquid's day isn’t over, however, as up next they will face 100 Thieves in the consolidation final for a chance to match up against the upper bracket winners, FURIA, in the best-of-five grand final.

Liquid started off their first map run against Cloud9 like they did yesterday against Gen.G, completely dominating on their rival’s map pick. Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip and company went on an impressive 11-0 streak out of the gate, until doubles by the South African duo of Aran "⁠Sonic⁠" Groesbeek and Johnny "⁠JT⁠" Theodosiou put a stop to it.

C9 were able to win two more rounds after that, but the half ended with another set of doubles, this time by Canadians Keith "⁠NAF⁠" Markovic and Russel "⁠Twistzz⁠" Van Dulken, who made it 12-3 in Liquid's favor.

Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski put up impressive numbers by the time Liquid closed out Overpass, which they did giving up just one more to Cloud9 in the second half, as the 22-year-old ended with 119.8 ADR and a 1.97 rating after the 20 rounds were played in the 16-4 victory.

Liquid will face 100 Thieves in the consolidation final

Cloud9 won a retake on the A site to kick things off on Nuke, but things reverted quickly as they found themselves trailing after losing to the forcebuy. EliGE won a 1vs2 clutch in the sixth round to keep his team in the driver’s seat, and although Cloud9 managed to tally another round, Liquid kept marching ahead. Late in the half, C9 were able to take the last five rounds to bring it back close, 7-8.

Liquid kept their lead after the first gun round of the second half, but unable to follow it up, Cloud9 took the lead with Ricky "⁠floppy⁠" Kemery spearheading his team's efforts, although the CTs were quick to tie it up once rifles were in play on both sides. Back in control, it didn’t take long for Liquid to close out the map and match, 16-12 to secure a spot in the consolidation final against 100 Thieves.
